Story:

Briefing

Caesar is still away in Alexandria and thus I, as his most senior Proconsul, will brief you on your next assignment in his stead.

Caesar has made many conquests in his time, but his latest would be by far the most astounding. Caesar has won the affections of the beautiful and charming Egyptian Queen Cleopatra, and wishes to bring the Queen for a romantic interlude at the most sumptuous of all his cities, a city made to order for the arrival of such a distinguished couple.

This city is to be built from the ground up in the most romantic of all locations, the beautiful south of Gaul, and you have been given the honour of building and governing this paradise.

Lesser Governors have failed in this area in the past. In particular, they have failed to pay proper respect to the Gods, and you may find the Gods a little less than welcoming upon your arrival, however I have assigned you the finest Religion Advisor in the Empire, a pious man trusted and respected by all the Gods, and he will surely assist you in your endeavours. Your religion advisor informs me that your city will benefit greatly from the favours of one God in particular, but will not further elaborate.

Caesar wishes his city at Massilia to be built without undue delay, so I would advise you to make haste in your endeavours. And finally, it would be in your best interests to have a goodly stock of jewelry when the couple arrive, for Caesar to lavish upon his lover..

Designer's Notes

This game is in effect a series of quests. Each one carries a reward, and must be completed in order to move on in the game. There are some minor invasions, and some imperial requests.

Walls are pre-placed in all difficulties, and disabled throughout, to prevent use of the wall undo cheat. In addition we have taken steps to discourage wage and tax manipulation. If you feel you must do this, please play hard or insane difficulty.

It is recommended that players wishing to check stocks of various goods (for example, to send requests) do so by using the resource advisor, rather than bringing up requests, especially in hard and insane difficulties. This will hopefully allow the message log to continue recording messages until the end of the mission.

Players should complete the mission up until the victory screen appears, then select Continue and save immediately. Victory can only be achieved when all tasks have been completed and all the above requirements met.

Eligibility- Easy Difficulty

Players who have won two CBC C4 contests in any difficulty may not enter Easy difficulty. Chris85, who tested Easy difficulty, will be alllowed to enter in this difficulty. Players may not enter both easy and hard difficulties unless invited to do so by the designers. We may do this if a player is playing Easy whom we believe has the ability to play Hard.

Eligibility- Hard Difficulty

There is no eligibility restriction on hard difficulty.

Eligibility- Insane Difficulty

There is no eligibility restriction on insane difficulty. Players may enter insane difficulty in addition to either easy or hard, however the top 3 placed players in insane difficulty will not be eligible for placing in a lower difficulty. This difficulty is intended to be very difficult, but it has been tested and can be completed.

Cleopatra in Massilia was designed by Schwartzhorse and goonsquad, and tested by Chris85 (easy), Schwartzhorse (Hard) and goonsquad (Insane). Thanks to Tobing for translating this contest into German.

When forwarding entries to CBC, only the C4s file of the final save is required, not the other files.
This contest will close at 11PM EST (US), on Sunday March 7th, 2010. Please note the date!

This contest has ended.
