Contest 94: Sacred Site, a Caesar 3 Population ContestWelcome to the contest pages for Contest 94: Sacred Site. This is a Caesar 3 contest, and should only be played with Caesar 3 V1.0.1.0. Use the links below to download the starting positions: Sacred Site (Hard Difficulty) Macintosh players, for whom the procedure of installing contest files is a little more complicated, can find detailed instructions here. If you have any problems, please ask in the Forum. Please take note that the CBC rules no longer allow free roads and material changes either. StoryThe assignment from Caesar's Proconsul seemed straightforward enough. You are to establish a colony near the site of some old native ruins, getting as high a fed population as possible within approximately 5 years, in a location with no known enemies, reasonable resources and good trade possibilities. Upon arrival at the province, you first notice the native ruins high on a hilltop, complete with native crops still growing strongly. You also notice that the location has an eerie feeling about it. The next thing you notice is that although the land looks as rich as any in the empire, none of it appears capable of sustaining farming. Nor is there a single fish in the waters. Then you notice the trees seem to be growing in very strange formations . A passing land trader stops to give his beasts a drink. "You are going to build here? You must be mad. This is an ancient sacred site. The all-powerful Barbarian Warlord Howard the Stern, the forefather of many of the present day Barbarian tribes, once ruled over this land. Even now, from his tomb atop the hill, his power is undiminished. You should expect some very strange things to happen here .", and with that he was gone. RulesCompletion Criteria: Note- Houses of any level that are in the process of devolving due to having run out of food will not be counted. The food stocks overlay will be used to identify houses with no food supply. Small and large tents, even those that have food, do not consume food
and will not be counted Designer's NotesMission duration is given in-game as 72 months from the start. However, actual mission duration is somewhat less than 72 months but at least 60 months. There are two native invasions in this mission, with no in-game warning
given of either. The first native invasion should be regarded as a warning
that time is almost up. The first native invasion can be defeated by the
player. The second native invasion cannot be defeated by the player and
signifies the expiry of allowed mission time The Sacred Site is a Caesar III contest map. It was designed by Goonsquad and was tested by Meogranata. Thanks to Trurl for his assistance with this map. Have fun. This contest will close at 11PM EST (US), on Sunday, August 27th. Please note the date!!!! This contest has ended.
