The StoryPharoah has been troubled by strange dreams. Three nights ago he dreamt of seven fat cows coming out of the Nile, followed by seven lean cows, who ate the fat cows but did not get any fatter themselves. Two nights ago, he dreamt that he walked through a field and saw seven rich, healthy sheaves of corn devoured by seven thin, ragged sheaves of corn. All day yesterday, dream interpreters throughout the land attempted to find the meaning of these dreams with no success. This morning, a foreign prisoner, who is said to be skilled in dream interpretation was to be brought before Pharoah, but before they could drag the wretch in, the Chief Priest of Osiris burst in with news. "Great One! I too have had a dream. Last night Lord Osiris himself came and spoke to me in my dreams! He is angered that many in the land still put Lord Seth before him in their prayers. He has set a task for you and all Egypt. To remind us all that the yearly flood is the source of all life, he has said that he will give us seven years of perfect floods, followed by seven years where he will withhold the flood entirely. You must store away grain during the blessed years or your people will starve during the cursed years. Lord Osiris has chosen the city of Djedu, where the worship of Seth is strong, to bear the greatest brunt of his pleasure and displeasure." Because of your family's great service to himself and prior Pharoahs, Pharoah has chosen you to govern Djedu, while an Overseer unfamiliar to you, Zaphnathapaneah, will guide efforts for the Kingdom in general. Be sure you build and fill many granaries, not just for your people, but for the rest of Egypt. In addition, many strong enemies surround Egypt, and if the famine hits them as well, they might try to take what they can't grow! Timeline: It is generally assumed that the Exodus took place sometime in the 19th Dynasty, possibly during the time of Ramses II. Although we have no idea which Pharoah Joseph worked for, it was probably several generations earlier. Zaphnathapaneah is, of course, the name Pharoah gave Joseph, just to show you that I am paying attention. Victory: Game will automatically end Dec 15, but submissions must be dated June 15 (the month before the harvest) Don't forget to make your yearly saves! Completion Criteria: Culture 45 Winning Criteria: 1. Population Designer's AdviceA goal of 999 Palatial estates is there to prevent the victory screen appearing. A price rise for marble occurs each year to remind you to save the game in December, marble plays no other part in this scenario. Story and scenario concept by Ramuhotep, tested by Lady Mags

the list of Pharaoh/Cleopatra game features. This contest has ended.
