Contest 74: OmbosWelcome to Contest 74: Ombos. This is our second presentation
for Tilted Mill's latest game, Children of the Nile. You must have the
latest patch in order to play this contest. The link to the patch is on
our rules page. Use the links below to download the starting positions: Ombos
- Normal After downloading, simply unzip the file. When prompted, choose to extract the files to the save folder. Competitors are reminded that the normal Ancient
Maps Rules apply to this contest. StoryMessengers have arrived from the city of Ombos (also known as Kom Ombo). You, Pharaoh Ptolemy VI, had ordered the building of a Cult temple for Horus the Elder in this city. Workers have finished the outer walls of the sanctuary, but then suddenly the building came to a hold. This was caused by the death of the son of a foreman of the brick makers He was killed by a crocodile whilst gathering clay. He was already the fifth brick maker to be killed by a crocodile that week. All brick makers are now convinced that they have upset Sobek and are cursed. Therefor they all left the city and don't want to come back until the spell has been lifted. Your priests advised you to build a Cult temple for Sobek to counter the spell. As you cannot build an empire without the brick makers, you must do something
to get them to work again. So, go to the city of Ombos yourself and build
a Cult temple to Sobek next to the one for Horus and create the first
Double Temple in Egypt. Hopefully this will reassure the brick workers
so they will return and start working again. RulesAll entries must meet the following completion criteria at the time of
submission: Completion Criteria
All valid entries will then be separated according to the following winning
criteria:
Designer's NotesA message will appear after you finished both Cult temples to remind you to save the game; this must be done before the victory screen appears. A message at the end of each year will remind you to save, you may be asked to provide these saves at the end of the contest. Your city doesn't have any brickmakers during this contest. If you need
more bricks for your city, you will have to import them from other Egyptian
Cities. Most cities don't want to help you unless you have acquired enough
prestige. So make sure your prestige is high enough to exploit all possibilities.
Building monuments can raise prestige, but having lots of priests also
helps. In the Hard contest you will be requested to build a pyramid to secure your afterlife. This is not a completion requirement, so you can choose to ignore it. However building it might reveal some hidden treasures, which might be useful to get a fast result. My thanks to Raccoon_TOF and Lady Mags for testing. This contest will close at 11PM EST (US), on Friday, April 15th, 2005. Please note the date!!!! This contest has ended. General Rules | Results Copyright © 2000-2010 CityBuildingContests.net.
