Lord of the West: Rules

First, competitors are reminded that the normal CBC contest rules apply to this contest. Competitors are also advised to peruse the list of Zeus/Poseidon Game Features to pick up some useful tips (not to mention dirty tricks).

In order to be valid, submitted entries must meet the following completion criteria at the time of submission.

  • Minor Shrine to Ares*
  • Sanctuary to any God*
  • Population of 2000*
  • Support 8 Spearmen*
  • No Labour Shortages
  • Save in December AD 435

Completion criteria marked with an asterisk are also episode goals.

Valid entries will then have the strength of their city's defenses evaluated using the following points system:

  1. Every hero in the city: 10 points
  2. Every spearman in the city: 2 points
  3. Every mythological warrior in the city: 1 point
  4. Every mercenary in the city: 1 point

The winning city will be that with the strongest defenses (i.e. the highest points score).

Designer's Advice

Remember to save your game every December. An increase in the price of carrots (a non-tradeable commodity) is scripted to occur every December as a reminder to make this save. These saved games should not be submitted with your entry, but must be made available should we request them during judging.

The final episode goal (1 person in Estate or better) is designed to stop premature victory and cannot be fulfilled. Consequently, it should be ignored.

You are free to shut off as many industries as you like to ensure that your city meets the labour criterion.
